I'm so excited! Yesterday my Canon Rebel xTi arrived. Sammie and I took it out to play for a while. Here's a few shots straight from the camera. No photoshop yet.
I haven't done any stamping lately. I still need to clean up my stamp area from last Saturday's class! Between homeschooling, classes, and getting ready for somebody's fifth birthday and party...we're pretty busy. I'm hoping to stamp either tomorrow or Friday. Our schedule is a little lighter the next couple of days. I look forward to using the new camera to take pictures of my cards!

Hope your day is off to a good start! Our plans for today consist of odds and ends to start getting things ready for Sammie's Fifth Birthday party in 2 weeks. Hard to believe so much time has gone by that my baby will be 5 years old soon.
Yesterday was the September Stamp-a-Stack. We had a really good time! Here are a couple of the cards you missed...
This card was inspired by a card we did at the Regionals Seminar in August of 2006. I used Wild Wasabi for the base, shimmer white, and the Double Line Doodles set. The word window was used to punch out the word "friend" and then I used the crop-a-dile to make a dry embossed "rivet" on either end.
This criss cross pocket card was inspired by several cards I've seen done lately. It has a Purely Pomegranate (my favorite color right now) base and uses the Cutie Pie designer series paper and the double stitched pomegranate ribbon.
This card was CASED from a talented blogger. And a bad habit of mine is to not write down who to give credit to. If it's you, please let me know. I did change it to a 3/4 fold card and add a ribbon tie. This cute face uses the Pick A Petal stamp set and we used the linen background, too. The scallop punch makes his hair.
I think I forgot to mention that I got my kitchen ceiling fixed this week. It looks much better. Now if we can get the carpenter out to do the roof, we'd be in good shape.
Our homeschooling is going well so far. Sammie's adapting pretty well and is usually eager to get started. Her favorite thing right now is the craft projects, of course! She starts a cooking class at the park district tomorrow. She's pretty excited about that!
Well, time to get going on my list of chores and things to do. Have a great afternoon!

How was your week? We have one week of homeschooling completed. I think it went well. We covered everything I wanted to. Well, except for the scavenger hunt outside because the mosquitos have just been terrible. Sammie's been excited and enthusiastic, asking to do homeschool. Boy, do I hope that lasts! I'm enjoying our time together learning. And I love the flexibility it offers!
Here's a couple of pictures. This is a hippo that Sammie made using a potato and a carrot to paint the body and the tree behind him. Then she used brushes to add the grass and sky. And she's never content with simple, so she used markers to add clouds, cherries on the tree, flowers on the grass, and hippo accents.
And here is her science journal page about an egg. She cracked one open, investigated and named the insides, scrambled it, cooked it, and promptly ate it!
I did do some stamping today. I'm working on Sammie's birthday invitations. I'll post a picture when I get the first one officially done. Right now it's just a mock up. And I did some cleaning in my stamp room. It sure needs that!
Sorry I don't have more stamping to share right now. I hope you're having the chance be creative. Feel free to share with me via email and I'd be happy to post it on my blog.
Have a great weekend! We're off to our favorite little diner for burgers!

So, I messed up and didn't post yesterday as promised. I will make up for it today!! How was your weekend? Ours was nice. On Saturday Sammie and I went up to Midway airport to meet an "Internet" friend who was on a short layover flying home from vacation. It was nice to finally "meet" her after emailing each other for about 6 1/2 years. Here's Sammie performing a ballet of sorts in the airport...
...complete with feather boa and pink ballet shoes. She refuses to take ballet lessons because she already knows how to do it. That's my girl!!
Sunday we attended a birthday party for two of our nieces up north. It was a nice visit and we're enjoying some incredibly nice weather after all that rain we had. And speaking of that rain, the mosquitos are so, so bad. You can't even get from the door to the car without getting bit. A friend of ours inhaled and got one stuck in his throat today. Lesson here: Keep your mouth closed when outside. My Sammie was outside for a short time yesterday helping my husband burn some wood, trim trees and powerwash the patio. I put bug spray on her, but it did no good. She was bit up so bad she looks like she has a strange disease. She gets big red spots and welts. Her little face is even swollen and we counted 7 bites there alone. Poor kid. Fortunately, they don't seem to itch her too bad.
Today I started a new chapter in my life. I've started homeschooling my daughter and today was our first day. We're learning kindergarten, and I say we're because I'm learning a couple of things myself. Like did you know that a leech has a hydrostatic skeletal system. Which means it's basically a water-filled tube surrounded by muscles. Ok, now I know your asking, "Why on earth, would you study leeches?". We're not studying just leeches, We're studying animals this year and we started with skeletons and the many different types of skeletons in animals. Leeches were one of numerous animals we read about today. So, here's a couple of "first day" pics...
Oh, the carpenter was out today, too, to check out my roof for repairs. Yea! And the drywall/painter guy is coming tomorrow to see about fixing my ceiling in the kitchen. Fortunately, we've had no more water. I hope the repairs go smoothly and get done before the big birthday party at the end of the month.
I'll leave you with a little project I did a week or so ago. The picture doesn't do it justice though. It's a thin wood heart sold at Michael's for decorating. I covered it with Stampin' Up! Designer Series paper, added my daughter's pic, and toped it off with some letters cut with my Cricut and some stamped flowers...
How did I do? Tired of me yet? Well, this is where I leave you for today. Tomorrow I'll be posting the current Stampin' Up! special "Fall Frenzy". Stay tuned.
Have a nice evening!
-Carol
